o orchids and confervoides sprawl
in the yard in front of the hall.
o green leaves and blossoms wee,
the fragrance blows to assault me.
all have sons dear and daughters fair;
why are you laden with care?
the orchids look so lush now;
in green leaves purple stalks bow.
the hall full of women sweet;
they turn their eyes and my eyes meet.
i come speechless and leave, not saying bye;
with a whirl, i haust my flag to the sky.
sad, i feel sadder when going apart,
glad, i feel gladder new friendship to start.
i put on my clothes and sash;
i come in a rush and then away i dash.
i spend the night by god’s way,
for whom do you in clouds so long stay?
in allpool i will wash my hair,
and when the sun is up dry it in the air.
o the women sweet have not come along;
before the wind i sing out a loud song.
plumed hood large, feathered flag high,
you’ll stroke a comet above in the sky.
a long sword you clasp, holding in your arms a child,
for the people you are just and mild.
